Can my family or friends be involved in my NDIS plan?Yes, family and friends can be involved in supporting you to: - Understand and implement your plan. - Attend meetings or advocate on your behalf. - Help you connect with services. - Their involvement depends on your preferences and goals. Family and friends are considered informal supports and cannot be paid using your NDIS funding.
-
What can’t Support Coordinators help me with? While Support Coordinators play a vital role in helping you manage your plan, there are certain things they cannot do, including: - Handling your plan’s finances (unless you have a Plan Manager for that purpose). - Providing direct care, such as personal care or therapy sessions. - Making decisions on your behalf—you remain in control of your NDIS plan. - Offering crisis services or emergency support. - Advocating in legal disputes or providing legal advice. Support Coordinators are there to guide and assist, but they cannot replace other key supports or services you may need.
-
Can I access supports while on a waiting list for services?Yes, while waiting for certain services, your Support Coordinator can: - Help you find alternative providers or short-term solutions. - Advocate to reduce waiting times where possible. Communicate any urgent needs to your Support Coordinator to explore options.
-
How do I prepare for an NDIS Plan Review? To prepare for a plan review: - Review your current goals and progress. - Gather reports or evidence from your service providers. - Identify any changes in your needs or circumstances. - Discuss your needs with your Support Coordinator before the review meeting. - Being well-prepared ensures your next plan aligns with your goals.
-
How do I find the right providers?Your Support Coordinator can help by: - Providing a list of local providers that match your needs. - Reviewing their services and costs with you. - Setting up trials or consultations to find the best fit. The right provider should align with your goals, values, and preferences.
-
Where are you located?Plan My Way supports Participants across Australia. We offer both remote and face to face services.
-
What is the role of a Support Coordinator?A Support Coordinator helps you make the most of your NDIS plan by connecting you with the services and supports you need. Their responsibilities include: - Helping you understand your plan and funding categories. - Finding and connecting you with service providers. - Assisting you in setting up and managing service agreements. - Building your capacity to coordinate supports on your own in the future. - Monitoring your plan’s effectiveness and suggesting changes when necessary. Support Coordinators are there to ensure your plan works for you and aligns with your goals.
-
Can I access unregistered providers?Yes, you can access unregistered providers if: - You are self-managing your plan or have a Plan Manager. - The provider meets your needs and complies with NDIS quality standards. Registered providers are required if your plan is Agency Managed.
-
What can I do if I am not happy with a provider or service? If you’re not happy with a provider or service: - Discuss your concerns with the provider directly. - Contact your Support Coordinator for assistance in resolving the issue. If unresolved, file a complaint with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. It’s important to advocate for your needs and ensure your services meet your expectations.
-
What is an NDIS service agreement?A service agreement is a contract between you and your service provider. It outlines: - The services they will provide. - Costs and payment terms. - Cancellation policies. Service agreements protect your rights and ensure you get the agreed-upon services.
-
How much are your services?Plan My Rate charge the rate as outlined in the NDIS pricing arrangements. These can often and suddenly change, that's why we make sure to keep you updated and have a clear service agreement in place.
-
What should I do if I need extra funding? If your current funding is not sufficient to meet your needs, you can request a plan review. To do this: - Gather evidence to support your request, such as reports from providers or therapists. - Speak with your Support Coordinator, who can guide you through the process. - Submit your request to the NDIS, either online or through your local NDIS office. Be specific about why additional funding is needed and how it aligns with your goals.
-
Can I manage my own NDIS funds?Yes, you can self-manage your NDIS funds. This gives you full control over your spending and allows you to hire both registered and unregistered providers. However, it also means: - You are responsible for managing invoices and payments. - You must keep accurate records of your spending. - You need to ensure you are complying with NDIS rules and guidelines. If self-managing feels overwhelming, you can choose Plan Management or Agency Management instead.
-
What happens if I don’t use all my funding?Unused funding does not carry over to your next plan. To make the most of your funding: - Regularly review your plan and services with your Support Coordinator. - Ensure your services align with your goals. - Communicate with providers to adjust services if your needs change. If you are unsure about how to use your funding, your Support Coordinator can help you plan effectively.
-
How do I access crisis support if I need it?The NDIS does not provide crisis services. If you need urgent assistance, you can contact the following services: - Lifeline: 13 11 14 (for emotional support). - Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 (for mental health support). - Emergency Services: 000 (for immediate danger or emergencies). If you are experiencing a crisis, reach out to these services, as your Support Coordinator cannot provide emergency or crisis support.
-
What is Specialist Support Coordination?Specialist Support Coordination is a higher level of Support Coordination for people with more complex needs. A Specialist Support Coordinator can: - Manage complex situations or crises. - Assist with decision-making in challenging circumstances. This service is typically included for participants with additional complexities in their plans.
-
What happens if my circumstances change? If your circumstances change, such as moving house, a change in health, or a shift in your goals, you may need a plan review. Contact your Support Coordinator to: - Discuss your situation. - Request a review to adjust your funding or supports. Changes in circumstances should be reported promptly to avoid disruptions to your supports.
-
Can I change the services I’m receiving?Yes, you can change your service providers if the current services are not meeting your needs or goals. Before making changes, you should: - Review your current service agreements. - Discuss your concerns with your Support Coordinator. - Find alternative providers that better align with your preferences and goals. It’s important to communicate openly with your providers and ensure new agreements reflect your choices.
